CCS To Host Winter Warmth Sleepout Oct. 18
WARSAW — Combined Community Services will hold its Winter Warmth Sleepout on Friday, Oct. 18, with scheduled activities from 6 to 9 p.m.
The event will take place on the Kosciusko County Courthouse lawn. Participants can bring tents, boxes and sleeping bags to spend the night on the lawn, but are not required to sleep out overnight to participate. There will be games, snacks and music.
In 2018, CCS assisted families 242 times with crisis utility situations, which a majority of the time was an upcoming disconnection date. Families are eligible to request assistance once in a 12-month period when they have a disconnect notice or are in danger of going without utilities. While the CCS celebrates assisting families 242 times, the organization is still unable to assist some families due to funding limitations, according to a news release from the agency.
CCS seeks to raise awareness for the need of utility assistance in Kosciusko County, as well as raise funds to help keep families warm this winter. Individuals, groups and families can sign up to raise funds at ccssleepout.com. There will be a “Youth Group Challenge” with a traveling trophy for the youth group that raises the most funds as well as the youth group that wins the activities of the night.
For more “Youth Group Challenge” information, contact Tim Frame at (574) 269-6019 ext. 224.
The Winter Warmth Sleepout event is sponsored by Kosciusko REMC and New Life Christian Church and World Outreach.
