NAPPANEE — April 14 marked the rededication and renaming of the NorthWood Middle School football field to “Doc Abel Field” in honor of the life-long dedication Abel has had with the WaNee community.

True to form, the ceremony had to be brief due to house calls Abel had to make. During his brief speech, Abel professed to have delivered over 10,600 babies in his lifetime. Fittingly, he was answering a call as the ceremony carried on Sunday.
