
Evelyn Rose Troutman, 94, Columbia City, died at 8:14 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Columbia City where she had been a resident since July 2017.
She was born in Barnesdale, Okla. on Sept. 27, 1924, a daughter of the late DeWitt and Rose Lee (Holloway) Kiester. Her formative years were spent Oklahoma. In her early teens, the family moved to Fort Wayne where she graduated from Elmhurst High School.
On July 11, 1945, she was united in marriage to George L. Troutman. The made their home in Fort Wayne with a summer residence at Loon Lake. Mr. Troutman died in 1991. She then moved to their home at Loon Lake.
She worked for the former Kresge Warehouse in Fort Wayne for 31 years as the office supervisor.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband and in their senior years, they wintered in Florida. An avid flower gardener, she also took pleasure in feeding the birds. She loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by children, Gloria (Francis) Rouns, Fort Wayne; Kenneth (Amy) Troutman, Syracuse; and Larry Troutman, Columbia City; four grandchildren, Julie (Darryl) Rutledge, Greenfield; Jeffrey (Nena) Troutman, Ossian; Chad (Heather) Rouns, Fort Wayne; and Adam (Jill) Rouns, Chicago; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Everett Kiester, North Manchester.
Additionally, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Funk, a brother, Ken Kiester and a great-grandchild, Jacob Olson.
A graveside service is 1 p.m. Friday at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Arrangements are by Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
