WARSAW — Three firemen were sworn in as full-time employees on Friday, Sept. 20, with the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory.

The three had been on standard probation for a year before moving to full-time status. They include Cody Bixler, Tyler Colt and Ryan Marshall.

The swearing-in by Mayor Joe Thallemer was conducted at the city’s Board of Works and Safety meeting at city hall.

The fire territory now has 33 sworn firefighters. A fourth firefighter is still on standard probation and will give the territory a full complement of firefighters when that person is eventually sworn in.

In other matters, the board received updates on an underground pipe restoration program.

The final cost of relining of large diameter underground pipes by Layne Inliner, LLC, of Hilliard, Ohio, was decreased by $186,000, according to Larry Hyden, assistant utility manager for the wastewater treatment department. The original estimate for the entire project had been $2.3 million, but with various changes in the scope of the project, the latest total cost is expected to be about $2.7 million, according to paperwork provided by the city.

Another similar project involving small diameter pipes was extended by 75 days to complete extra work. The project is expected to wrap up in November, Hyden said.
