This week libraries all across America are celebrating National Library Week and the unique role libraries serve in our communities.

The North Webster Community Public Library has been joining in the festivities all week long. Don’t miss the library’s big celebration at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18. It’s a free evening of entertainment, refreshments, prizes, and fun with guest speaker Karen Land, a three-time Iditarod Dog Sled Race musher, and a special appearance by her sled dog Borage.

Next week, the library will host guest speakers Martha and Roger Barnhart at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24. The Barnharts will give a presentation on the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Sons of the American Revolution. Roger is Vice President General of the SAR National Society while Martha has held various state positions in the DAR. They will discuss the criterion for membership in these lineage organizations, how to research and document your lineage, and how to present it for membership consideration. The public is invited to attend the Barnharts’ presentation sponsored by the Glean Team, a group of experienced genealogists who meet weekly at the library.

Also next week, the Voyager Book Club meets at 10 a.m. Monday, April 22, to discuss an inspirational book. Then at 4 p.m., the Basic Computer Class will meet for its third installment. Revolving Recipe Round-Up will be sharing dishes made with an egg when they meet to swap and sample recipes at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 23.

Enjoy a free movie, complete with free popcorn, during Family Movie Time at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 25. in the library meeting room. Showing is a PG rated animated movie about an evil spirit that lays down the gauntlet to take over the world and the immortal protectors who join forces to guard the hopes, beliefs, and imagination of children all over the world.
