Monica R. Bice, 84, Syracuse, passed away at 12:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at her home on Dewart Lake.

She was born on Jan. 25, 1935, in South Bend to Walter P. and Clara O. (Turkowski) Trytko. She grew up in South Bend and graduated in 1952 from South Bend Catholic High School. She was married on April 19, 1958, in South Bend, to Donald D. “Don” Bice Sr. who survives.

She moved to the Milford and Syracuse area in September 1969. She was a homemaker and retired in December 1997 after 12 years of service as the Clerk and Treasurer in Milford, and was a volunteer for Milford E.M.S. She was a member of the St. Martin De Porres Catholic Parish in Syracuse where she taught children’s religious education.

Monica is survived by her husband, Don Bice, Syracuse; daughter: Kathy (Andrew) Brown, Syracuse; three sons: Donald (Barbara) Bice Jr. of Milford; Carl “Buddy” (Penny) Bice of Annapolis, Md.; and Keith (Heather) Bice of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister: Elizabeth Wood, Brazil.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Valerie Szabo and Verna Nowak, and three brothers: Bernard, Eugene, and Clem Trytko.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Parish, 6941 E. Waco Dr., Syracuse, with Fr. Andrew Nazareth officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Milford.
