North Webster

Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accidents:

11:25 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, SR 13, north of East CR 900N, Syracuse. DriveRL Michelle Somers, 57, EMS W30 Lane, North Webster. Somers’ vehicle struck a deer in the roadway. Damages up to $5,000.

12:36 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, SR 13, south of Washington St., North Webster. Drivers: Andrew Corbitt, 21, 24th Street, Merdian, Miss.; and Lesa Swank, 50, Fascination Way, Cromwell. Swank stopped her vehicle suddenly due to traffic, causing Corbitt’s vehicle to rear-end Swank’s vehicle. Damages up to $1,000.

 

Silver Lake

Officers with the Silver Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:

8:14 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, CR 1000W, south of CR 900S, Mentone. Driver: Wesley Yarian, 38, Johnson Street, Akron. Yarian was driving north on CR 1000W when his trailer tires ran off the roadway, causing his trailer to be dragged into a ditch and flipped over on its side. Damages up to $50,000.

 

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:

6:56 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, Rozella Road and Fisher Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Tana Wilhelmi, 32, SR 25, Mentone; and Joshua Anderson, 35, West CR 150S, Warsaw. Wilhelmi’s vehicle rear-ended Anderson’s vehicle which was stopped at the intersection on Rozella Road. Damages up to $2,500.

12:41 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, East US 30 and South CR 250E, Warsaw. Drivers: Rex Burnett, 68, East CR 100S, Pierceton; and Matthew Wolf, 36, Shoreline Drive, Columbia City. Burnett’s vehicle was approaching the intersection when it rear-ended Wolf’s vehicle. Damages up to $2,500.

12:38 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2501 Walton Blvd., Warsaw. Drivers: Alexander Rodrguez, 33, North CR 400W, Leesburg; and Morgynn Summers, 20, West CR 550N, Warsaw. Rodriguez was backing his vehicle out of a parking spot and struck Summers’ vehicle. Damages up to $5,000.

10:19 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, North Parker and East Center streets, Warsaw. Drivers: Karrie Carpenter, 49, South 600W, Columbia City; and Abigail Lehman, 18, East CR 1325N, Odon. Carpenter was driving in the left turn lane on Parker Street when she began to switch lanes, causing her vehicle to strike Lehman’s vehicle which was also traveling southbound on Parker Street. Damages up to $5,000.

1:54 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 145 N. Harrison St., Warsaw. Driver: Unknown. Late Sept. 1, officers responded to a hit and run traffic accident involving a Dodge Durango (see below). Early Sept. 2, officers responded to an accident that occurred behind Sacred Heart Catholic School. The Dodge Durango had crashed into and uprooted a tree. The vehicle was abandoned with its paper registration removed and the doors locked. The Dodge Durango was towed to the Warsaw Police Department to continue the investigation and the driver remains unknown at this time. Damages up to $5,000.

11:03 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, East Main and North Bronson streets, Warsaw. Drivers: Unknown and Gina Ramirez, 43, Main Street, Warsaw. A Dodge Durango was traveling north on Bronson Street when witnesses say the unknown driver disregarded a stop sign at Main Street and struck the Ramirez’s vehicle. According to witnesses, the Dodge Durango then backed up and sped off eastbound on Main Street, traveling the wrong direction on a one-way street. The Dodge Durango was located later behind 145 N. Harrison St. The unoccupied vehicle had been involved with another crash at that location and abandoned. The paper registration that was on the vehicle had been removed. The investigation is ongoing. Damages up to $10,000.

3:37 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, North Columbia Street and West Perry Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Mariah Miller, 17, Miami Drive, Warsaw; and Judy Norrman, 65, North CR 350W, Warsaw. Miller stopped at the intersection and stated she did not see any oncoming vehicles. Miller drove her vehicle through the intersection, colliding with Norrman’s vehicle. Norrman did not have a stop sign. Damages up to $5,000.

12:26 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 676 N. Colfax St., Warsaw. Driver: Melissa Gunter, 49, Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Gunter was driving southbound on Colfax street at a very low rate of speed when, due to a medical reason, her vehicle left the roadway and struck a parked vehicle registered to Karen Mcatee, Warsaw. Damages up to $5,000.
