WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School senior student-athlete Sarah Ray has signed a letter of intent to run cross country at Olivet Nazarene next season.

Ray has been a steady three-sport athlete for the Tigers, finishing 33rd in the state at this year’s cross country state finals in her first season of cross country.  The speedy senior was also a major factor in this year’s girls basketball team’s trek to the Final Four, and on the track this year she turned in the second fastest 3,200 meter run in school history in her first ever attempt on the track this past week.
Ray, this past cross country season, was the Northern Lakes Conference runner-up and captured third place at the sectional and regional and 10th at the semi state. She not only earned All-NLC recognition, she was named to the All-State third-team in cross country by the IATCCC.  The statewide recognition continued after this past basketball season as she was selected as Academic All-State.
Ray has not only been a steady force on the track, courses and courts, she has made a significant impact in areas of servant leadership throughout the school and community as she has been involved with the National Honors Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Tiger Student Athletic Board, the IHSAA Student Leadership Academy, and WCHS student council.
While Ray mastered the challenges on the courses and courts, she has done remarkably well with the challenges faced in the classroom  by earning a 12.68 GPA and stands ranked 18th in her class of 493 students.
Ray, the daughter of David and Betsy Ray, will run for coach Mike McDowell and the Olivet Nazarene Tigers.  She intends to major in Dietetics.
