Tigers Edged By Eagles
WARSAW – The Warsaw baseball team rallied Friday, but in the end dropped a 5-4 final to Columbia City.
The host Tigers trailed 3-0 before scoring one run in the fourth inning and a pair in the fifth frame to tie the contest at 3-3.
The Eagles, 1-0 on the season, scored a pair of runs in their final at-bat in the top of the seventh inning. Warsaw was able to plate on run in their final at-bat in the home half of the seventh for the 5-4 setback.
Warsaw had just three hits in the non-conference contest, while the Eagles managed four. Justin Oberlin, one of five pitchers used by Warsaw, took the loss on the hill.
Warsaw, now 0-2, opens Northern Lakes Conference action Monday at Wawasee. The Tigers are then scheduled to play at Tippecanoe Valley on Tuesday in a make-up game postponed this past week.
