Kosciusko

Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:

1:24 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, SR 19, north of West SR 10, Etna Green. Driver: Alyssa L. Smith, 20, CR 40, Goshen. Smith swerved to avoid striking a deer that entered the roadway. Her vehicle went off the road and down into a ditch, overturning. Smith suffered lacerations to her face and her arms. Damage up to $10,000. 

5:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, West CR 300S, east of Poplar Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Mark A. Weller, 62, West SR 14, Silver Lake. Weller said his rear tire deflated, pulling his vehicle off the right side of the roadway. His vehicle struck a Norfolk Southern railroad crossing arm and support. Damage up to $50,000. 

3:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, South CR 890W, Akron. Driver: Daytona L. Stump, 28, South CR 1275E, Akron. Stump said her brakes did not work when she attempted to use them while going around a curve in the road. Her vehicle left the roadway and went into landscaping on the property of 11821 South CR 890W. Damage up to $5,000. 

9:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, US 30 and SR 13, Pierceton. Drivers: Wayne D. Cook, 73, Persimmon Street, Englewood, Fla.; and Bradley A. Lynn, 43, Nixon Road, Yorktown. Cook’s vehicle rear-ended Lynn’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000. 

North Webster

Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:

3:54 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, Dixie Drive, North Webster. Drivers: Danyelle P. Hubbs, 26, Mulberry Street, North Webster; and Travis B. Schwarzbach, 27, Van Buren Street, Columbia City. Hubbs’ vehicle struck Schwarzbach’s vehicle when Hubbs was backing out of a driveway. Damage up to $2,500. 

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:

11:46 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, East CR 250N, Warsaw. Driver: Blake T. Metzger, 27, Chicago Street, Royal Center. Metzger’s vehicle backed into a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
