James Fred Dooley, 73, Disko, passed at 11:44 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at his residence.

He was born on Oct. 27, 1945, in Grundy, West Virginia to Walter and Flossie (Sluss) Dooley.

He married on Oct. 24, 1965, in Virginia to Mary Kathleen Bailey, she preceded on July 13, 2018.

He worked at the former Wabash Containers Corporation in Wabash, Ind. for 47 years retiring in 2008.

He was a member of the NRA and the Honeywell Center. He was known as a fastpitch softball pitcher. He bowled in many leagues and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was an avid gardener and at one point had a 3-acre garden.

He is survived by his son, Freddie (Kathy) Dooley, Young America; daughter, Carol (Randy) Shelburne, Rochester; grandchildren: Jennifer, Brandy, Dexter and Dale; great-grandchildren: Alexia, Tristan, Joselynn, Austin and Cayden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son, Billie Joe Dooley; three sisters and two brothers.

A private family burial will take place at Gaerte Cemetery, Macy, Ind.

Visitation hours will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 19, at Hartzler Funeral Home 305 West Rochester Street Akron.

Memorial Contributions can be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.
