WINONA LAKE — A motorcyclist who was struck by a man police say was driving recklessly on Aug. 4 east of Winona Lake has died from his injuries, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.

Edward J. Frost, 51, of Warsaw, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, after being hospitalized in Fort Wayne following the crash on Pierceton Road, which involved Glenn Dale Chupp, 20, of Nappanee.

Chupp has been officially charged with criminal recklessness, a level 5 felony and criminal recklessness, a level 6 felony following the Aug. 4 accident. Those charges were filed on Aug. 6 and the spokesperson for KCSO could not comment on whether additional charges will be added.

Frost was severely injured when the motorcycle he was riding was struck by Chupp’s 1997 Pontiac Firebird on East Pierceton Road in the area of CR 600E. Chupp told police he passed a car while driving eastbound and admitted he was traveling between 130 and 135 miles per hour. He said his vehicle struck Frost’s motorcycle while his car was still traveling between 120 and 125 miles per hour.

According to police, Frost was taken to Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital with multiple skull fractures and a broken leg. He was reported unconscious at the scene and remained in critical condition until his death.

Chupp told police he had smoked synthetic marijuana about three hours before the accident. Police reported that Chupp was out on pre-trial release and on bond in multiple drug and operating while intoxicated-related cases in Kosciusko County, as well as being on probation for related offenses in LaGrange County.
