ETNA GREEN — Run for a Hero will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Heritage Park in Etna Green.

The park is located at 300 S. Walnut St., Etna Green. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with the 1-mile fun run beginning at 9 a.m. and the 5k starting at 10 a.m. 

Participants may register online at runforahero.org or on-site the day of the event. There is a $5 entry fee for the 1-mile run and a $10 entry fee for the 5k. Money from the race will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. 

“I chose to put on this race to honor our military,” said Run for a Hero Event Organizer Briana Wilhite. “I believe they don’t get the recognition they should get for their sacrifice for us.”

EVENT: 1 MILE FUN RUN

The 1-mile fun run is set up for families and children to be able to run along with their parents. This is ideal for walkers as well.

Start Time: 9 a.m. EDT

End Time: 2 p.m. EDT

Price: $5 race fee + $2 sign-up fee 

Registration: Registration ends at 11 p.m. EDT Sept. 13.

EVENT: 5K RUN

The 5K is set up for runners.

End Time: 2 p.m. EDT

Price: $10 race fee + $2 sign-up fee 

Registration: Registration ends at 10 a.m. EDT Sept. 14.
