Leininger Files For Franklin Township Board Vacancy

WARSAW — A relative of the Franklin Township board member who died recently is seeking the position she held through an upcoming Republican caucus.

Buni Leininger died July 7.

Kayla Leininger, 36, a daughter-in-law of Buni Leininger, has filed for the position and is seeking to fill the vacancy, according to Kosciusko County Republican Party Chairman Mike Ragan.

Leininger works as a nurse practitioner.

“It’s just a way for me to honor her [Buni] and I want to ensure that taxpayers’ dollars are properly used and that fire and EMS stay properly funded,” said Leininger.

Deadline to file for the opening is 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3.

The GOP caucus will be conducted at Mentone town hall at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Franklin Township is in the southwest corner of Kosciusko County.
