WARSAW – The Warsaw baseball team finally got to open its 2013 season on Monday.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, Huntington North proved to be an unkind guest.

The Vikings built an 11-1 lead en route to defeating Warsaw by a 12-6 final at WCHS.

Huntington North improved to 4-1 on the season with the win, while the Tigers are 0-1. Warsaw had its first three games prior to Spring Break postponed due to the cold weather.

The Vikings wasted no time in taking charge Monday as they scored three times in the first and second innings.

Braydin Stell had a huge day at the dish for the Vikings with three hits, including two homers, and seven RBI. Kory Goodrich drove in three runs for the winners.

Josh Frantz led the offense for the Tigers. He was 3-4 at the plate with a triple and three RBI. Michael Miller and Tanner Balazs each had a hit for Warsaw.

The Tigers, who finished 11-18 last year, used five pitchers in the contest with starter Forde Ness taking the loss. Warsaw also struck out 12 times and had four errors in the game.

Starter Connor West notched the pitching win for the Vikings.

Warsaw returns to action Wednesday (April 10) with a game at Tippecanoe Valley at 5 p.m.
