WARSAW — Warsaw Community Schools is taking the first step toward issuing an $8 million bond to cover expenses for several projects.

The board on Tuesday voted 4-0 to proceed with the bond process.

Approval of the bond could happen in August, said Chief Financial Officer April Fitterling.

Among the “potential” projects: Improvements to the entrance of the high school, upgrades to the STEM labs at the high school and more security cameras and other related improvements throughout the district, and construction of a building near the baseball field, Fitterling said.

The building would include restrooms, storage for baseball and cross country equipment and dedicated space for the maintenance and food service departments, Fitterling said.

Officials will determine a priority list and then implement the improvements over the next two years, she said.

Classes begin Aug. 13. Parents are urged to enroll their children as soon as possible.

Letters about bus routes will likely be mailed Friday, she said.
