WARSAW — An 8-year-old was injured Monday, June 10, after being struck by a car near the intersection of North Pointe Drive and Husky Trail.

The accident occurred around 1:40 p.m., causing traffic to be blocked in multiple directions. Officials with the Warsaw Community School Corporation were at the scene, and the police were closely examining the vehicle involved in the accident, but no further details were immediately available.

Ink Free News received word that the child is a boy who was attending summer school. The boy was reportedly taken to Parkview Whitley Hospital.

Brad Kellar, public information officer for Warsaw Police, said the driver is cooperating with police.

The accident appeared to happen close to the intersection of Husky Trail and North Pointe Drive, in front of Harrison Elementary. A car suspected in the accident further to the north was towed away.

Kellar said the police department and school district were working to release more information soon.

The intersection was upgraded to improve safety at the crosswalk after concerns were raised about a year ago.
