SILVER LAKE — A South Bend man was arrested after threatening to kill a female and her children.

Thomas Martin Vansandt, 34, 1126 N. Hill St., South Bend; also with an address of 312 Teri St., South Bend, is being charged with intimidation, a level 6 felony.

On April 30, an officer with the Silver Lake Police Department responded to a report of intimidation. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer spoke with a female subject.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the female said a male subject, identified as Vansandt, called her and said he was coming to her residence to “air her house out and kill her and the children.” She said Vansandt had shot her before and went to prison for it.

The female provided the officer information from her phone that showed Vansandt called her and sent her text messages. One text message read, “You brought this all yourself remember that.”

On Jan. 25, 2012, a criminal case for pointing a firearm at another person was opened on Vansandt in St. Joseph County Superior Court 8.

Vansandt was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on June 3, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
