WINONA LAKE — The town of Winona Lake sustained heavy damage after a thunderstorm that occurred shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday, May 23.

Dozens of trees on the east side of Park Avenue in the Village at Winona were uprooted as a result of the storm. Crews are currently working on cleaning up limbs and trees.

Caution tape was placed in front of Lakeside Chapel due to several large, fallen trees in front of the building. A few trees behind the SYM Financial Advisors office in Winona Lake were snapped in half. Limbs and large branches fell across sidewalks near the Hillside Amphitheater.

The Town of Winona Lake posted the following on its Facebook page:

“World Compassion Network is providing help for those affected by the storms. They have chainsaws and other relief equipment and are working in the Winona Lake/Warsaw area. Contact Paige Wood at (574) 551-2211. They are not removing trees or anything leaning but more light debris/limbs.”
