sellersJames Sellers, 71, of Akron, Ind., and formerly of Hoffman Lake, Ind., passed away at 1:25 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, Ind. 

He was born on July 2, 1941, in Warsaw, Ind., to James and Janice (Shand) Sellers. James served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1969. He was a Staff Sergeant in the 701st Mountain Battalion First Infantry Division.

He worked for Pierceton Trucking, Laketon, Ind., for 20 years and then worked for G&S Trucking, Wabash, Ind., where he retired. After retiring, James worked for Steve Wagner Farms. He was a former volunteer of the Atwood Fire Department and a member of Kosciusko County Firemen’s Association.

James is survived by three children: Deborah Baker, Silver Lake, Ind.; Tona Walter, South Whitley, Ind.; Rodney Seller, Akron; two sisters: Patricia Craig, Warsaw; Myrtle Leota Dennis, Roanoke, Ind.; five grandchildren: Justin, Joshua, Janessa, Teri and Marc; four great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Dillon, Jimmy and Delany.

James was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, July 5, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.  A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at the funeral home, with Pastor Howard Immel officiating. Burial will be in the Legion Circle at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors provided by American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1196, Warsaw.
