
GOSHEN – NorthWood was able to build some momentum heading into next week’s conference tournament with a Class B championship at the 30th annual Goshen Relays on Saturday.
The Panthers won just three events, but had plenty of points in the chain to score 106 points, well ahead of runner-up Culver Academy’s 64 points.
In Class A, Wawasee battled to a third-place tie with Goshen at 64 points, just back of Penn’s 69 points, but all chasing champion South Bend Adams’ 87 points.
NorthWood had its 4×100 shuttle hurdle relay team of MacKenzie Brewer, Ashayla Malone, Kali Parisi and Reagan Koble combine for a 1:12.72 and later team Sara Lopez, Whitney Wolfe, Kali Parisi and Kendal Miller time a 10:58.96 to win the 4×800 relay. Maddy Payne cleared 4-8 in high jump to lead the Class B jumpers.
Wawasee saw its 4×800 relay team of Nadia Palacios, Cameron Kryder, McKenzie Smith and Bailey Mayhew post a 10:36.37 for the Class A win. Pole vaulter Jada Parzygnot broke her school record with a winning 11-6 achievement, and went 15-8.5 for runner-up honors in long jump. Sara Pritchard sent the discus 110-10 for the best Class A throw.
Wawasee and NorthWood will direct its attention to Tuesday’s Northern Lakes Conference Championships at Warsaw.
