NORTHWOOD 4, GOSHEN 1

A full slate in the Northern Lakes Conference tennis circuit saw NorthWood take care of Goshen on its home court.

Goshen pushed NorthWood on both the three singles and two doubles courts, but each went to NorthWood in 6-3 third sets. At No. 3, Gretchen Adams had to rally to beat Madi Rittenhouse after a 6-4, 5-7 stalemate between the two. In the doubles contest, Caroline Mullet and Kate Stillson gave NorthWood a 7-5 win, but Sage Christner and Sophia Kirkton rallied 6-1 to force the third.

Reegan Miller and Alex Jesse continued to play well atop the singles board for the Panthers, Miller a one and one romp of Lucy Kramer while Jesse got stronger in a four and one win over Anna Podgorski.

Goshen came through with a win at No. 1 doubles, Brooke Grewe and Kathryn Detwiler posting a two and two win over Lauren Mikel and Riley Graber.

NorthWood took seven of the 10 JV courts, led by singles wins from Abigail Vorhis and Ashlyn Feller.

NorthWood improves to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the NLC. On deck is a matchup with Plymouth, which suffered its first NLC loss Tuesday to Concord, the lone NLC team left undefeated (3-0).

NORTHRIDGE 3, WAWASEE 2

A win at one singles helped the Raiders pull out a victory against the visiting Warriors.

Riley Wheatley rallied from a set down to catch Kendra Doerr in a 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 final, becoming the third and deciding match.

Northridge won both of the doubles courts, with Cassidy Overholt and Peyton Kieper taking a two and two result over Kaitlin Graber and Molly Jones at No. 1 while the No. 2 team of Amaya Guevara and Kylee Bontrager pitched a shutout over Abby Morehead and Tate Cowan.

Wawasee’s two victories came from Peyton Rookstool, a 6-7 (8-6), 7-5, 7-4 win over Brynne Gaylor at No. 2, and Elizabeth Kleopfer with a 6-0, 1-6, 6-1 winner over Ridge’s No. 3 Taylin Cress.

Ridge claimed nine of the 12 JV contests. Kaitlynn Jackson and Kelsey Harper each won singles courts for Wawasee, the lone doubles win for the Warriors came from Casey Yankosky and Jada Carter.

Wawasee (6-2, 1-2 NLC) works again Thursday in hosting Warsaw.

WARSAW 4, ELKHART MEMORIAL 1

Warsaw rolled in singles play to boost its performances on its home courts against Memorial.

Alyssa Zellers and Rachel Boyle gave up one game in knocking out Eva Morales and Ashley Ianello, Zellers via shutout. Taylor Shoaf also won in straight sets, three and two, against Callen Kubiak.

Amy Herendeen and Maddie Ray also picked up a conference win, two and two, against Abby Wohlschlager and Emma Yohn. Memorial grabbed the other doubles court, Megan Huys and Jessica Dibley grabbing a three and three result against Rachel Yeager and Raegan Merchant.

Warsaw swept Memorial on the JV courts, 12-0. Gracie Lewis, Elena Sullivan and the doubles tandem of Olivia Reiner and Anna Brehany all won via shutouts.

Warsaw (3-2, 2-1 NLC) visits Wawasee Thursday.

PERU 3, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 2

Valley jumped into Three Rivers Conference play and took home a tough loss after its visit to Peru.

Gigi Engstrand and the No. 1 doubles team of Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley both earned wins for the Vikings. Engstrand, at No. 3 singles, won a two-hour marathon at 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 against Celia Vallez-Rando. Valley’s doubles team rallied for a wild 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 triumph over Molly Gray and Madisyn Carrico.

Mackenzie Costello and Hannah Parson lost their first TRC contests as did the doubles team of Kaitlin Neese and Haley Baker.

Mallory Durkes had a pair of singles wins in the JV contests to highlight the Valley juniors.

The Vikings (4-3, 0-1 TRC) set sail Wednesday to John Glenn.
