Kay Payne
Kay Payne, 76, Rochester, passed away at 9:23 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1942, in Rochester, the daughter of Alfred L. and Ruth E. (Barts) Hopper. On Aug. 11, 1961, in Rochester, she married Harold Edward Payne. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1991.
Mrs. Payne early in her life had worked as an aide at Woodlawn Hospital and later retired from Hart, Schaffner and Marx after many years of service. She had attended First Christian Church, Rochester, Indiana and had been a member of the Eagles Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. In her leisure time, she enjoyed going to auctions and spending her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Martha “Mitzi” Richardson and companion, Darren McCloughan, Rochester; Jill and husband Claude Lee Payne, Walkerton; Robert Payne, Rochester; grandchildren: Kaleigh Richardson, Nashville, Tenn.; Kelsey Richardson, Bremen; Tommi and husband George Ernie, Rochester; Lauren and husband Brandon Moss, Twelve Mile; Marc and wife Brianna MacLain, Mechanicsburg, Penn.; Travis MacLain, Rochester; Cameron Payne; six great-grandchildren; sisters: Barbara Swihart, Rochester; Nancy Clay, Rochester; sister-in-law, Edna Mae Bedford, Rochester; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Garl Hopper, sisters, Martha West, Dortha Eads and Carol Coleman.
Private services will be observed. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Animal Adoption and Education Center. Arrangements by Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester.
