Following an uneventful public hearing on a proposed tax abatement, the Warsaw Common Council approved a 3-year abatement for Flexaust to purchase a building at 1605 W. Center St.
Flexaust is currently using the former Midwest Rake building after acquiring a supply operation and moving it to Warsaw. The tax abatement will allow the company to purchase the building and use it for manufacturing, warehousing and shipping operations.
The abatement is only for the building acquisition, which means Flexaust will not have to pay full property taxes on the building for three years.
Flexaust is also asking for a 10 year tax abatement on $3 million in personal property equipment to be installed and operated at both 1605 W. Center St. and 1510 Armstrong Rd.
In other business, a right-of-way in Lakeside Park addition was approved to be vacated. The petitioners own adjoining lots that have the right-of-way running between the properties. The city council noted no access to anyone else’s property would be impaired by the vacation so it was granted.
Council president Diane Quance noted at the end of the meeting that she would like to see district maps available online for residents of Warsaw. Since the city approved redistricting last year, council representatives have new areas of the city. Skinner said he would work on uploading those district maps to the city’s website.
The next meeting of the Warsaw Common Council will be at 7 p.m. Monday, April 1.
