David E. “Mag” Kern, 57, Syracuse, passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Goshen Hospital in Goshen. He was born on Feb. 3, 1962, in Goshen, to Jacob Earl “Jake” and Susan A. “Susie” (Morganthaller) Kern III.

He graduated in 1980 from Wawasee High School in Syracuse, and was a lifetime Syracuse and North Webster area resident except for a few years in Cadillac, Mich. He formerly worked at Aerolite in Syracuse, Forest River in Goshen, Ameri-Camp in Syracuse, Thor Industries, Cadillac Bowling Alley, and the Syracuse Bowling Alley.

He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Syracuse and the Boy Scouts of America where he held various seats, including being a Certified Education Trainor for Boy Scout Leaders. He was a former member of the Lions Club in Syracuse.

He is survived by a daughter, Alisha Kern, Syracuse; son, Christopher Kern, Syracuse; sister, Debra Kern, North Webster; brother, Daniel (Trish) Kern, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; former spouse, Mary (Mabee) Kern, Syracuse; five nephews and two great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Wesley Kern.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw. Visitation will be from noon – 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
