Saint Joseph, Mich., Passes Non-Discrimination Ordinance

Saint Joseph has become the first city in southwest Michigan to pass a non-discrimination ordinance.

The ordinance protects people from being discriminated against based on their race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, a disability and more.

It passed in a four-to-nothing vote.

An emphasis would be place on gender identity or sexual orientation cases.

The ordinance would go into effect March 21, 2019.
