NORTH WEBSTER — Phil Metcalf, president of the Board of Trustees of North Webster Community Public Library, along with the entire board, announces the kick-off of a community fundraising campaign for the construction of a new library facility. The goal is to raise $500,000.

The North Webster Library has obtained ownership of the south end of the North Webster Community Center which once housed the old North Webster High School. Demolition of that section of the building will begin in April. Once the land is cleared, the library plans to begin construction on its new facility in May.

“We encourage everyone in our community, especially those who use our library, to give generously to the building fund, so that the library will continue to serve our community for many years to come, providing a welcoming atmosphere for people of all ages, walks of life and income levels,” stated Metcalf.

The new facility will include a donor wall that will display donors’ names along with levels of giving and naming rights.  Dr. Terry and Sue Frederick were one of the first contributors to the campaign, donating $25,000. Dr. Frederick currently serves as vice president of the Board of Trustees. “We have lived in North Webster for the past 20 years and realize the value that this library brings to our community,” Frederick points out.

Donations can be accepted in the form of cash, checks, stocks and bonds, tax-free income from IRAs or bequests.  Patrons will have an opportunity to learn more about the fundraising campaign and the giving process at several upcoming library events.

The North Webster Library sees over 103,000 visitors per year with over 14,000 persons attending more than 700 library programs and events last year. Its collection includes 55,000 books and hundreds of DVDs in addition to E-books that can be downloaded onto personal devices.

North Webster Community Public Library is currently located in the north end of the North Webster Community Center, 301 N. Main Street and will continue to serve patrons at that location without disruption of service throughout the building process.
