WARSAW — Plans for the city council to meet in an executive session Tuesday, March 5, have been canceled, according to a notice from city hall.

Council had planned to meet at 5 p.m. today, March 5,  to discuss police matters in a closed meeting.

The move to cancel came after City Councilman Ron Shoemaker questioned the legality of the meeting Monday night, claiming police matters for executive session fall under the jurisdiction of the city board of works and safety.

Details on why the meeting was canceled were not immediately clear.

Mayor Joe Thallemer had attempted to schedule the meeting at the request of a council member who wanted to discuss police issues.
