KNOX — Detectives with the Starke County Sheriff’s Office are requesting prosecutors charge a South Bend mayoral candidate with auto theft.

Will Smith is accused of stealing his SUV from an impound lot on Feb. 13. The SUV had been repossessed earlier that day, police said.C
