AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley senior Lucas Walters won’t have to go far to start the next leg of his baseball career, signing with Manchester University.

Walters, which held his signing Friday afternoon, heads into his senior season on a very talented Vikings baseball team.

As a junior, Walters compiled 14 hits, 10 RBI, 13 runs scored and four extra base hits, making up a .222 batting average and .388 on-base percentage. Part of his highlight reel included two hits and two RBI against Argos, three runs scored and two driven in against Whitko, and two doubles and three runs scored against Taylor, all team wins.

Walters also made eight appearances on the hill for coach Greg Prater’s Vikings, striking out 20 batters in 13 innings of work.

Manchester, coached by Rick Espeset, is a Division III program. The Spartans were 20-22 a season ago and 9-8 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
