
Ronald “Ron” C. Everson, 70, Winona Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at Venice Regional Bayfront Health in Venice, Fla.
He was born on March 28, 1948, in Fort Wayne, to Kathryn C. (Fremion) Everson and Maurice J. Everson. On June 19, 1971, he was married to Doris Ann (Fischer) Everson, who survives.
He was a 1965 graduate of South Side High School in Fort Wayne, a 1969 graduate of Purdue University-Fort Wayne, and received his master’s degree in 1975 from the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne. Upon graduation from college, he began a career in the Powder Coating industry as a chemist at Armstrong Products in Winona Lake. He also worked as the Plant Manager at Hamelin Industries, was the General Manager of Winona Corporation and eventually became Co-owner and President of Winona Corporation beginning in 1990.
He was active in several organizations through the years including the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Cardinal Services Board, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Powder Coating Institute, the American Chemical Society, and most recently as a mentor in the SCORE Program. He was a past member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Fort Wayne, and in his earlier years enjoyed bowling, tennis, baseball, and coaching Little League. Fishing was a lifelong pleasure from his early days on Blue Lake in Michigan to fishing with his granddaughters on Chapman Lake. He cheered on the Purdue Boilermakers, Chicago White Sox, and the Chicago Bears. He loved being with his family and spending time on the lake…Ron will be dearly missed and forever loved.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Doris Ann Everson, Winona Lake; daughter: Heather (James Tuttle), Greenwood; and his three granddaughters: Olivia, Elaina, and Amelia Tuttle. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., and 5-7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 18, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. There will also be a visitation prior to his service from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19.
His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Penny Mosher of First Church of God of Columbia City. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
