Calvin A. Reffett, 80, Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 3:08 a.m.,, Feb. 9, 2019, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born in Kentucky, on May 6, 1938, Calvin Alex Reffett was a treasured son of John George and Lidia Bentley Reffett. Growing up he shared his childhood with a sister Eva and brother George.
On Jan. 3, 1963, he married the love of his life, Vernellee Howard. They enjoyed 56 years of life’s adventures. From their union came two handsome sons, Shane and Shawn. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessing of grandsons Charles Reffett and Jack Carvey Reffett.
In his younger years he competed as a drag racer and drove over the road truck. More recently during the past 15 years he was proud to be a member of the Rochester Iron and Metal team. He truly enjoyed his friendship with Jason Grube and Mooch Lewis. He was on the board of directors for the Prill School Association and a member of the Blacktop Cruisers. He and Jack spent many hours restoring his 1961 Ford Galaxy.
Paramount in his life was his family. Grandpa Calvin loved spending time with his grandson Jack. They enjoyed fishing at several undisclosed ponds around the area and taking Jack’s 2008 shiny vista blue Mustang Shelby GT 500 to compete at area red hot car shows. As a team they collaborated on shining everything from bumper to bumper and everything between, till they glistened.
