
KOSCIUSKO — Plain Township will be providing a temporary warming center from Wednesday, Jan. 30 through Thursday, Jan. 31. The warming center will be located at the Plain Township Building, 34 E. Armstrong Road, Leesburg, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
The coldest temperatures of the season and in several years are expected to occur these days. Temperatures will be around -6 degrees with wind chills between -30 to -45 degrees. Record-breaking are temperatures are expected.
Should you need assistance to get to the warming center or find someone in need, please contact Kosciusko Central Dispatch at (574) 267-5667 to have assistance to get to the location. Local churches and community partnerships will be assisting individuals getting to the warming center, as needed.
The individual attending the warming center will receive food and a warm place to stay and get out of the cold and help for a long-term plan if needed.
Plain Township Trustee Tyler Huffer urges everyone to stay inside, to check on neighbors and family, bring outdoor pets inside and only go outdoors if an emergency occurs.
