Real Services Gives Free Lunches To TSA Employees At South Bend Airport
SOUTH BEND — A little relief Thursday for federal workers at South Bend International Airport.
Real Services brought its food truck called “The Real Grill” to provide free lunch for TSA employees.
Agents have now gone more than a month without paychecks as the partial government shutdown is nearing the end of its 34th day.
Real Services is in a similar situation with its funding compromised by the stalemate in Washington.
“Being out here today, I feel personally gratified, because we’re taking care of the folks that have the same federal funding that I do,” said George Hawthorne, Real Services Nutrition & Transportation director. “Our agency, the area agency on aging, depends upon federal funding and so these guys do as well. So we’re out here supporting one another.”
Real Services served around 50 lunches Thursday.
Fiddler’s Hearth in South Bend plans to cater lunch for TSA employees Friday.
