Accidents
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Wednesday, Feb. 27, 12:24 a.m. U.S. 30, Etna Green. Driver: Jeremy J. Shoemaker, 31, Salamonie Avenue, Huntington. Shoemaker was eastbound on U.S. 30 when the trailer on his semi began to jack knife into the median. Damages: up to $10,000
Tuesday, Feb. 26, 11:49 p.m. SR 13, Pierceton. Driver: Feliciano Solis, 33, Pine Crest Drive, Columbia City. Solis was southbound on SR 13 and lost control on the snow covered road. The truck jack knifed into a ditch striking an earth embankment and several trees. A fuel tank on the truck ruptured spilling diesel fuel which was cleaned up by Emergency Management. Damages: up to $25,000
Tuesday, Feb. 26, 9:35 p.m. North SR 19, Nappanee. Driver: Shawn R. McCarthy, 32, North Greenbriar Dr., Greenwood. Driver lost control on the snow covered road and went into a ditch. Damages: up to $5,000
Tuesday, Feb. 26, 6:26 a.m. Hepler Driver and West Lake Street, Warsaw. Driver: Sherry D. Fox, 48, Brubaker Street, Warsaw; and Patrick A. Briar, 26, Center Drive, Warsaw. Fox stopped at the stop sign but proceeded into the intersection into the path of Briar’s vehicle. Damages: under $1,000
Monday, Feb. 25, 10:29 a.m. East Backwater Road and South Dixie Drive, North Webster. Drivers: John L. Noble, 66, North 650 East, Warsaw; and Teresa K. Miller, 51, North Georgia Street, Kimmell. Noble was stopped on Dixie Drive and began to turn onto Backwater Road. He failed to see Miller’s vehicle and pulled into its path. Damages: up to $5,000

Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following incidents:
- Feb. 26, 11:47 a.m. Carlos Hernandez of Warsaw reported his vehicle had been stolen and he located it in Green Acres Mobile Home Park, on CR 200 North, Warsaw.
- Feb. 26, 12 a.m. Gabe Rhodes of Syracuse reported an iPod stolen.
