Warsaw Man Charged With Criminal Confinement, Battery Causing Injury

WARSAW — A Warsaw man is facing felony charges after police say he battered a female and refused to let her leave the residence to call for help.

David Alex Hein III, 19, 1610 Tippecanoe Drive, Apt. B, Warsaw, is being charged with criminal confinement, a level 5 felony; domestic battery causing moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.

On Nov. 2, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a battery complaint. On arrival, a female victim advised that Hein became angry and a physical altercation began. According to the female, Hein picked her up and slammed her against the wall multiple times, causing pain.

The female further advised that after the battery, Hein refused to let her leave. She attempted to leave multiple times and Hein would pull her back into the residence each time. She was finally able to escape and called the police for a neighbor’s apartment.

The officer was able to observe a laceration on the female’s head that was bleeding. According to the affidavit of probable cause, there was a significant amount of blood on the female’s clothing and in her hair.

Hein was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on a warrant on Nov. 30.
