KOSCIUSKO — A Warsaw man faces criminal charges after police say he threw a female victim, causing her to hit her head, and then strangled a witness who told him to stop.
Joshua James Warren, 31, 680 E. Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, is being charged with strangulation, a level 6 felony; domestic battery with a child present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Nov. 21, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a battery complaint. Upon arrival, a male advised that he was sleeping when a loud commotion and kids screaming woke him up. According to the male, when he exited his bedroom, he observed a female “flying” out of the bedroom doorway. The male discovered that Warren had physically thrown the female out of the bedroom into the hallway, causing her to hit a support beam.
When the male told Warren he shouldn’t be throwing the female, Warren became angry and put the male in a chokehold, applying pressure to the point where the male’s breathing was restricted. The male eventually escaped the chokehold but sustained a cut to his nose and chin.
The officer spoke with the female victim, who advised Warran was arguing with her in the bedroom. According to the female, Warren became angry, picked her up and threw her out of the bedroom. As a result, the female had a cut on her right arm and a large red mark on her left arm.
Another witness in the house confirmed the events to the officer.
Three minor children were in the bedroom where the female was thrown out of and witnessed the incidents.
Warren was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 22, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond. He has an initial hearing scheduled for Dec. 13.
