WARSAW — A female pedestrian was killed after she was struck by a vehicle on US 30.

Shortly after 6 p.m. tonight, Nov. 21, emergency responders were dispatched to a pedestrian accident on US 30, near Commerce Drive, Warsaw. The female pedestrian was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet Equinox.

Initially, a medical helicopter was called to the scene but it was quickly disregarded after the female was declared dead on arrival.

A reconstruction team was being called to the scene and the eastbound lanes of US 30 near Commerce Drive are expected to be closed to traffic for the next several hours. Travelers are advised to use SR 15, Old 30 and SR 13 as primary detours. Police are on scene directing traffic, but there are extensive back-ups.
