WARSAW – Warsaw senior soccer standout Grant Allbritten has been a key fixture for the highly-successful Warsaw Tigers boys soccer squad for the past four years.

Allbritten recently announced that he would attend Ohio Northern University to continue his soccer career on the collegiate level.

Allbritten, following two consecutive years of helping the Tigers to Final Four appearances, provided dominant play at midfield this past season to help lead Warsaw to its first state championship game ever. No. 2 Warsaw lost a 1-0 decision to No. 6 Columbus North in the Class 2-A state title game in October.

A member of Fort Wayne Fever for the past four seasons (2011 State Runner-Up and 2012 State Cup Champs), Allbritten was a 2011 and 2012 Academic All State selection for the Tigers.  The Warsaw Co-Captain was also a 2012 IHSAA State Finals Mental Attitude Award Nominee for coach Scott Bauer’s Tigers.

Allbritten helped the Tigers post a 20-2-2 mark on the field in the fall. Warsaw finished 13-9-2 officially due to seven forfeits due to a paperwork error involving a player’s eligibility. The Tigers, who had eight seniors (including six starters), won the Plymouth Sectional, Mishawaka Regional and Warsaw Semistate championships en route to the State Finals.  Warsaw’s program is the only boys one in the state to advance to the Final Four each of the past three seasons.

While Allbritten has turned back a substantial number of opponents goals on the field, he has certainly conquered many of his own in both the athletic and the academic realm at WCHS.  Allbritten is ranked No. 9 out of 512 students in his graduating class, and he has amassed an impressive 12.98 GPA on a 12-point scale.

Allbritten, a 5-11 midfielder, not only helped anchor an outstanding Tiger defense his senior season. He also scored six goals and had three assists. Younger brother Sam was a key player too for the Tigers this past season as a sophomore midfielder.

Allbritten, the son of Brenda and David, intends to major in Biochemistry / Pre-Med at Ohio Northern while competing for coach Brent Ridenour and the Polar Bears.

ONU, located in Ada, Ohio,  posted a school-record 25 wins this past season on the pitch and won its third straight conference tournament title and its second straight conference regular-season championship. The Polar Bears also advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program history.
