KOSCIUSKO — A Warsaw man was arrested after strangling a female.

Spenser Wayne Shoemaker, 28, 202 S. Sherman St., Warsaw, is being charged with strangulation.

On Oct. 18, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic abuse complaint at a residence.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, a female subject said she and Shoemaker were discussing text messages on her cell phone when he became angry. The female said Shoemaker came up behind her, put his arm around her neck, and choked her while he was trying to get her cell phone out of her pocket.

The female said Shoemaker lifted her up off the floor and choked her to the point she couldn’t breathe. The officer observed red marks on the female’s neck.

A minor was present in the house while the incident occurred.

Shoemaker was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 8, with a $5,750 surety and cash bond.
