NORTH WEBSTER — North Webster Community Center saw a brisk start to voting on Tuesday, Nov. 6, with well over 150 voters that created a 15 minute wait. According to Mark Grady, that has been typically unheard of. Grady continued to comment there were first time poll workers and people had been voting quickly, which surprised him as the mid-term elections are considered more complex for people to vote in.

That led Grady to think everyone had done their research for this election. The voter turnout in the four precincts was more than half of registered voters. There were quite a few first time voters, which would prompt everyone to applause.

Joyce Parcell, a first time clerk, commented she was impressed with all the double-checking and rigorous effort poll workers put in. Other workers, like Janette Stackhouse, felt it was their civic duty to work the polls and assist their neighbors when it comes to voting.

In the Tippecanoe Township race for township trustee, Republican candidate Chris Francis carried an overwhelming majority vote across all four precincts with a total of 2,090 votes (79.20 percent) to Democratic candidate Rebecca Burton’s 549 votes (20.80 percent).

In the first precinct, Francis carried 465 votes (76.23 percent) to Burton’s 145 votes (23.77 percent).

In the second precinct, Francis received 595 votes (80.73 percent) to Burton’s 142 votes (19.27 percent).

In the third precinct, Francis had 522 votes (79.82 percent) to Burton’s 132 votes (20.18 percent).

In the fourth precinct, Francis carried 508 votes (79.62 percent) to Burton’s 130 votes (20.38 percent).
