WARSAW — Despite morning rain showers, the weather was perfect for this evening’s First Friday event in downtown Warsaw. Crowds were drawn to the many art-related activities scheduled throughout the evening.

Warsaw Community High School teachers and students were at the event to help everyone bring out their inner artist. The crowd favorite was watching artists throw pottery on the two potter wheels at the event.

Marc Eckel created his most recent Splat Experience, The Name. The crowd gathered as he transformed a blank canvas into a large painting of Jesus in mere minutes. His act was sponsored by Sterling Contracting.

Other notable artists and organizations present included The Kosciusko Literacy Services, Lakeland Art Association and Red Bird Art Studio.

A Motostunts and More show took place on Buffalo Street. Crowds got to watch experts perform tricks on different kinds of bikes. This show was sponsored by New Life Christian Church.

The Warsaw Lions Club was handing out peppermint candies in honor of International White Cane Day and to help raise awareness of white cane traffic laws. The white cane is the international symbol of independence, achievements, mobility and safety for people who are blind or visually impaired.

This month’s event was sponsored by the Dane & Mary Louise Miller Foundation, City of Warsaw, and Warsaw Community Development Corporation.
