Hope Angel (Zuniga) Steyn, 21, Warsaw, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Beaver Dam. A kind, loving person, Ms. Steyn was 21 years old.

Born in Goshen, she grew up in Warsaw and was the daughter of Daniel “Danny” and Guadalupe “Lupe” (Martinez) Zuniga. She graduated from Monarch Christian School and worked for Cunningham Optical in Warsaw.

On July 29, 2018, she was married to Tertius Steyn. The two met earlier in the year and fell deeply in love. He survives in Warsaw.

She was kind, loving and fearless. She was not afraid to try new things and was often the “leader of the pack.” She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling with her father but was also artistic and creative. She could draw, sing and was incredibly smart. Hope, always smiling and laughing, was the light of any social event and had a servant’s heart, even working for some time as a certified nurses’ aide. Tenacious and fun, she will be missed by many.

In addition to her husband, Tertius Steyn, survivors include her parents: Danny and Lupe Zuniga of Warsaw; sisters: Denise (husband, Jason) Cardwell of Warsaw and Leticia (husband, Steve) Meyers of Syracuse; nieces and nephews: Taylor Cardwell of Warsaw, Kolby Meyers of Syracuse, Maddy Cardwell of Warsaw, Walker Meyers of Syracuse, Hunter Cardwell of Warsaw, Payton Cardwell of Warsaw, Mckenzie Cardwell of Warsaw; and maternal grandfather: Jose D. Martinez of Pharr, Texas. Also surviving is Hope’s biological mother, Beatrice Palacios and sisters, Viridiana and Jaqueline.

Friends may join family for a time of visitation and for sharing of memories at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service which celebrates Hope’s life will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home. Family friend, Pastor Stoney Craft, will officiate. Burial will be in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
