North Webster

Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:

4:26 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, North SR 13, south of East First Street, North Webster. Driver: Angelika S. Weidenbenner, 34, Rutland Court, Winona Lake. While driving south on SR 13, Weidenbenner’s vehicle veered to the right, leaving the roadway and striking a fence at the North Webster Church of God. Weidenbenner was unconscious but breathing when medics arrived and became conscious upon insertion of an IV. Weidenbenner stated she was hot and lightheaded prior to the accident. Damage up to $750.

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:

3:22 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, South Hickory Street, south of East Center Street, Warsaw. The owner of a parked, unoccupied vehicle stated he parked his vehicle on South Hickory Street and believed he parked his vehicle far enough from the tracks to not interfere with train travel. He stated he was inside a residence in the area and heard a crash and saw that his vehicle had been struck by a train. He stated he must have left the rear of the vehicle too close to the tracks. Damage up to $5,000.

Marshall

Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:

4:26 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 100 block SR 17 and 15B Road, Culver. Driver: Michael Bennett, Culver. Bennett suffered possible broken bones and internal injuries. Bennett was north on SR 17 on a 2009 Honda motorcycle when a deer ran into the roadway. Bennett’s motorcycle hit the deer, causing him to lay his motorcycle on its side and sliding for several feet.

9:16 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 100 block SR 17 and SR 8, Plymouth. Driver, Johnbosco U. Azubuike, 34, Detroit, Mich., and John T. Hoyo Jr., 33, Valparaiso. Azubuike drove his semi-tractor/trailer into the path of Hoyo’s vehicle, causing Hoyo’s vehicle to hit the trailer. Hoyo was trapped inside his vehicle and was extricated. Azubuike was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, and Hoyo was flown to Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

3:14 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 200 block Plymouth-Goshen Trail, Nappanee. Driver: Levi Jacob Schuler, 22, Bremen. Schuler lost control of his vehicle and hit a NIPSCO pole. He was extricated from his vehicle and immediately taken for medical treatment.
