James S. Bishop
James S. Bishop, 75, Columbia City, passed away Sept. 11, 2018, at The Hearth at Sycamore Village.
Born in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Aug. 15, 1943, to the late Lawrence and Frances (Patty) Bishop. He moved to Fort Wayne as a child, graduating from South Side High School in 1961.
He owned and operated Busco One Stop for 16 years. He also owned and operated Bishop’s Auto Palace.
He married Anita (Megies) Bishop in Cromwell on March 1, 1985.
He loved working on his classic cars and his friends’ cars. He was a member of the American Legion Post 98 in Columbia City. He was also a member of the Street Rod Association and traveled all over the county attending Car Shows.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Anita Bishop, Columbia City; two daughters, Jill (Brian) Lee, Wolf Lake; and Susan (Jerry) Girardot, Columbia City; two sons: Rainer (Lisa) Kimmell, Fort Wayne; and Andy (Iva) Kimmell, Waldorf, Md.; three brothers: David (Donna) Bishop, St. Mary’s, Oh.; Daniel Bishop, Roanoke; and Joseph (Sandy) Bishop, Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded by a granddaughter, Briana Lee.
Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home.
Burial with Military Rites will take place at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m..
