KOSCIUSKO — A Claypool woman was sentenced in the Kosciusko Circuit Court Monday, Sept. 10, on charges related to dealing methamphetamine on the property of a local nursing home.

Katlynn Leanne Craft, 19, 9611 South CR 100 E., Claypool, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony.

On April 20, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a drug deal at a local nursing home.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, officers arrived at the nursing home and observed two males and a female inside a black vehicle. The officer drove up to the vehicle and identified himself as a police officer. A male was sitting in the rear passenger seat and was seen digging around the seat area. The driver, Craft, began moving around in the vehicle as well. Another male was sitting in the front passenger seat.

The officer removed the occupants from the vehicle. In the driver’s side door panel, a plastic bag of methamphetamine and a make-up case containing methamphetamine were discovered. Three more plastic bags of methamphetamine were located inside Craft’s purse. A plastic bag of methamphetamine, a rubber band and a glass smoking device were discovered in the rear seat where one of the males was sitting. In the front passenger seat where the other male was sitting, a plastic bag of methamphetamine, a plastic tube with a glass pipe taped to it, two plastic bags with the corners cut off and digital scales were located.

Judge Michael Reed sentenced Craft to one year in the Kosciusko County Jail, with the sentence ordered to be suspended and served on formal probation. Craft was given 11 days of jail time credit and ordered to complete a substance abuse evaluation and any recommended treatment approved by her probation officer.

The sentence was ordered to be served consecutive to any sentence imposed in any other pending case. Pursuant to the plea agreement, other charges were dismissed.
