Pedestrian Hit In Early Morning Crash

SYRACUSE — Keith E. Welty, 70, Syracuse, suffered injuries to his leg after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning, Sept. 8, in Syracuse. The accident occurred at 5:52 a.m. at West Main Street and North Huntington Street.

Welty was taken to Goshen General Hospital by Turkey Creek Township Fire Territory. The dog he was walking was found uninjured and returned to Welty’s family.

According to Syracuse Police, Katlyn M. Waldbeser, 18, East Backwater Road, North Webster, was eastbound on West Main Street and was making a left turn to travel north on North Huntington Street, when her vehicle struck Welty in the crosswalk. Waldbeser stated she did not see Welty.

Damage to Waldbeser’s vehicle was estimated up to $1,000.

Syracuse Police and Turkey Creek Fire Territory responded.
