AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team moved back into the Class 3-A rankings on Monday.
The Vikings then went out Tuesday night and looked like a top 10 team.
Led by its outstanding duo of Nick Kindig and Tanner Andrews, the No. 9 Vikings bested Bremen 81-62.
Senior guard Kindig poured in 32 points and junior forward Andrews netted 24 to lead the hosts to the victory.
Valley, which improved to 16-2, led 25-19 after the opening period and 42-30 at halftime. The Vikings were up 61-51 before outscoring the Lions 20-11 in the final quarter.
The Vikings improved to 11-0 at home on the season with their seventh straight win. Valley has not lost since a 63-46 setback at Plymouth on Jan. 5.
The prolific offensive onslaught continued for coach Bill Patrick’s team Tuesday night. The hosts 81 points was the second highest output of the season, trailing only the record shattering 146 points put up in a 146-56 TRC home win over Wabash on Feb. 1.
The 81 points was also a season high allowed by Bremen.
Alex Thacker scored nine points and Chainey Zolman six for the Vikings. Ben Shriver and Jacob Ritchey each had five points for Valley.
Ethan Pike filled the bucket with a game-high 41 points to lead the Lions, who drop to 9-8. Jacob Box had 20 points for Bremen.
Valley won the junior varsity game by a 45-39 final.
Valley plays at Triton and Bremen hosts NorthWood on Friday night.
