KOSCIUSKO — An Atwood woman was recently arrested after she stole an ATV.

Haylie Winter

Haylie A. Winter, 23, 304 E. High St., Atwood, is being charged with theft, a level 6 felony.

On Aug. 23, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to an abandoned ATV. The officer discovered that the ATV was stolen but hadn’t yet been reported. The ATV belonged to Grace College but was believed to be at a local business for repairs.

An employee of the repair business stated that the ATV was at their facility but was now missing.

The officer received information that Winter was seen riding around on the ATV. Winter admitted to the officer that on Aug. 23, she observed the ATV parked behind the repair business. She observed that the key was in the ignition. Winter advised she stole the ATV and drove it until it ran out of fuel in the Pierceton area. She provided the officer with the key for the ATV.

Winter was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 24 and released on her own recognizance. She has an initial hearing scheduled for Sept. 13.
