Helen Shumaker, 94, Pierceton, passed away at 2:20 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, in the comfort of her own home. She was born March 10, 1924, in Wabash County, to Vernon and Myrtle Hutchison.

She married Leroy Shumaker Dec. 9, 1950, in Wooster. He preceded her Feb. 23, 1982. She was a lifetime homemaker who enjoyed sewing, canning, being with family and helping others. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by children Dennis (spouse J.J.) Shumaker, Pierceton; and Steven (companion Barb Hunt) Shumaker, Warsaw; step-children: Joel “Rex” Shumaker, Warsaw; and Shirley Frantz, Pierceton. In addition, 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren survive. She was preceded by her parents, husband, a son Mark Shumaker, daughter Mary “Sue” Rupert, sisiters Mary Hutchison, Betty Mathers, Geneva Perkins, Thelma “Tootie” Lamprecht and brothers John and Donnie Hutchison.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 7, in the Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jack Worth officiating. Interment will be in Palestine Cemetery.
